The Junior League of Springfield to hold annual Next-to-New Sale September 24-25, 2004
Springfield, IL – The Junior League of Springfield invites the public to its 53rd annual Next-to-New Sale on Friday, September 24 from 5 pm – 9pm and Saturday, September 25 from 9 am – noon. The event will be in the Illinois Building at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, accessible through the Main Gate. Admission is free both days. There will be a preview sale for the shoppers who want first selection from 3 pm – 5 pm Friday for a $5.00 admission.
The Next-to-New Sale features new and quality used clothing for men, women and children, as well as house wares, furniture, toys, books and much more. Tens of thousands of items will be offered to shoppers at new lower prices and all regular clothing will be priced at $1.00! Refreshments and homemade baked items will be offered at the Bake Sale held in conjunction with the Next-to-New Sale.
Among the more popular areas of the sale is the “Quarter Corner” where all items cost just a quarter and “Cream of the Crop” with all brand new or high quality clothing at outstanding savings. Saturday morning will feature special discounts and promotions for the shoppers who come back for the second day of this HUGE sale.
The Junior League of Springfield, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Proceeds from the Next-to-New Sale will be used for Springfield-area programs that support families and improve the community. In 2003, the Junior League of Springfield awarded grants to the following recipients as a result of fundraisers like the Next-to-New Sale: Camp Care-A-Lot, The Springfield Children’s Museum, Family Service Center, PORA (Positive Options, Referrals and Alternatives), Springfield Area Reading Is Fundamental, Urban League, St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Youth Service Bureau, Sojourn Shelter and Services, Sangamon-Menard Agricultural Education Partnership, and The Springfield Theatre Center.
