The Junior
League of Springfield to host fall festival at St. John’s Hospital
Springfield,
IL – The Junior League of Springfield is hosting a fall festival for
Make-A-Wish children and guests of the Ronald McDonald House this Sunday,
October 24, from 1:00 to 3:00 at St. John’s Hospital fifth floor.
The
guests will enjoy activities such as Boo Bingo, pumpkin decorating and
making their own edible spider or spooky hand. Magician Ken Braham has donated his talents for the
afternoon. He will not only roam
the party wowing guests with his magic but will perform a show mid-afternoon. Junior League members spent their last
general meeting preparing games, decorations and treats for the event. Each guest will not only leave with a
smile, but with bags of goodies donated by Junior League volunteers.
The
Junior League of Springfield, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization of
women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women
and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of
trained volunteers. Its purpose is
exclusively educational and charitable.
Make-A-Wish
grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to
enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The
Ronald McDonald House in Springfield provides a “home-away-from-home” for
families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment at nearby
hospitals. It serves as a temporary
residence on North Seventh Street near the hospitals where family members
can sleep, eat, relax and find support from other families in similar
situations. In return, families are
asked to make a donation ranging from $5 to $20 per day; if that isn’t
possible, their stay is free.
