Do I need to be invited to join or can I submit my own name?
In the past, many Junior Leagues required that an already active member sponsor a potential member. Today that is no longer the case. While most members submit their friends' names for membership, it is not necessary to already know a member.

What are the criteria for membership to join JLS?
--Meet the age and residency requirements
(21 years of age by May 31st of the current year
and a resident of Springfield, IL)
--Possess an interest in community service
--Possess an interest in developing her potential for voluntary community participation

What is the time commitment?

Provisional or new members are responsible to work 3 hours at the Next-to-New Sale in the fall. Active members are responsible for 6 hours. Each active member serves on one committee during the year. Naturally, some committees involve more time commitment than others do. The time you commitment to JLS is up to you, your schedule and family.

Are the meetings during the day?

JLS holds its general meeting on the second Tuesday of every month September- May at 7:00 pm. The December meeting is a social event and is not a required meeting.

How do I learn more?
JLS members hold an informational meeting each spring that is open to anyone who is interested in joining JLS. If you're not able to attend the meeting, you can contact our office at 217-787-7802 or at:

admissions-provisional@jlsil.org

and your message will be passed along to the appropriate person.
