Next-to-new picBy far, the largest proportion of our funding in any given year comes from the Next-to-New Sale. Next-to-New is a large rummage sale, started in 1951 by The Junior League of Springfield, Inc. Over the years, the Next-to-New Sale has raised nearly $500,000, all of which has gone back into the Springfield community. JLS members not only volunteer 6 hours of work to staff the Next-to-New Sale; they also donate gently used clothes, toys and various sundries to stock the sale.

Next-to-New celebrates over 50 years of success due to the tremendous contributions and energies exerted by the League membership, the generous sponsorships from Springfield businesses, the reputation of the sale itself, and the Springfield community who attend each year. What began as a modest, biannual event has grown into a much anticipated fall happening!

The sale helps the Springfield community in two ways: profits are used for the projects and purposes of the Junior League of Springfield, and people are able to purchase Next-to-new picusable clothing and household items at exceptionally reasonable prices. The sale includes clothing for children, household items, books, accessories, toys and so much more.

Our League members also host a bake sale, featuring goodies from our Honest to Goodness Cookbook. The cookbooks are for sale as well.

Our last Next-to-New Sale was held in October 2008.

League is grateful to the many businesses and individuals who have provided assistance since 1951.

Profits from the Next-to-New Sale were used to support the purpose and programs of the Junior League of Springfield, Inc.
