Our Kitchen Tour started as a fundraiser hosted by the sustaining members for the active members of JLS, in 1990. Now in its 18th year, the Kitchen Tour ushers in spring with a view of some of Springfield's grandest homes. The Kitchen Tour Committee carefully selects the tour homes looking for unique features, interesting décor, and varied locations around town. Homes selected have been located on Lake Springfield, Piper Glen Golf Course, and in Washington Park, Leland Grove, and Panther Creek just to name a few. They've varied from the contemporary, to sprawling Southern, to Frank Lloyd Wright in style.

The one feature that remains equal among the homes is their spectacular kitchens! Gourmet kitchens would be an understatement… marble or granite countertops, Thermador range hood, Sub-Zero refrigerator, custom cabinetry… just some of the amenities you'll find from year to year on the Kitchen Tour. And most homeowners have opened the remainder of the house, so tour guests can see not only the kitchen but the complete home as well.

Several businesses from the Springfield community provide a sampling of food and refreshments for the tour guests as they depart each home. Many of Springfield's finest home decorators and designers have graciously provided their services to the homeowners. The Junior League's award winning cookbook is available to purchase at the bake sale.

Profits from the Kitchens in Bloom Kitchen Tour are used to support the purpose and programs of the Junior League of Springfield, Inc.
