Junior League of Springfield, Inc.
State Public Affairs Committee (SPAC)

Each year, the Junior League of Springfield selects two representatives from our membership to be our SPAC A and B delegates.  Several other Illinois Junior Leagues belong to the Illinois SPAC committee including Champaign, Chicago, DuPage and Kane Counties, Kankakee and Evanston-North Shore. The delegates meet once a month in a different location hosted by each participating league.

SPAC has several core beliefs, which focus on early education. SPAC believes that the years from birth to age six are critical to long-term health, vitality and school success and that parents are their children’s first and most important teachers. We believe that the first learning experiences of young children lay the foundation for success in school and in adult life and those children should be able to start school physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually ready to learn. We believe not only that educational readiness programs should be universally available to all children, but also that they are the shared responsibility of parents, government and the community. Finally, we believe that all sectors of society benefit when families flourish and foster healthy growth and development in their children.
